Night Flight
the world of La'cryma Christi
Hot Rod Circuit is one of La'cryma Christi's newest PVs and also one of their simplest. However, it's also perhaps their most effective one. A lot of the band's PVs suffer from trying to be mysterious, mystical, and beautiful and just sort of look like visual-kei done not-quite-right. PVs have never been the band's strength. In this one though, they really show off their new sound and their incredible stage presence.
The concept is pretty simple. It starts with Taka in a cave and he has a note in his hand that says, "The key for a secret path is inside of yourself." Then he goes outside and the song starts. It's basically just a camera with a yellow filter swooping around the band as they play the song in a parking lot. It switches to a four-panel spilt of the screen and focuses in on individual members from time to time, but it's basically just the band rocking out in a parking lot.
Even though there's not much in the way of a story or theme in this PV, it's my favorite so far and the band really shines. They manage to capture part of the energy they have on stage and plus they all seem to just be having so much fun! Taka's flipping around with the scarves tied to his mike, Shuse's boogying with his bass, and Hiro even has a huge guitar solo.
Their new sound is really shown off here too and even though they're sort of ripping off AC/DC with the lyrics in the chorus, it's a fantastic song and has tons of energy and sheer rock! This PV is a strong argument for picking up their new single.
